Week 5: Outdoor Play Provocation Part 2 of 5 -- Ice to Water

The night before, we had frozen some leftover flowers and stems from Valentine's Day alongside some orange slices and lentils from the kitchen inside cubes of ice. We pulled these out alongside some salt and a few pictures of hot water, and put them outside near a bin for our little one to explore.

This provocation was a huge hit. My little one has been enamored with water tables and pouring, mixing, scooping, and stirring for well over a year now. She mixed and added together all over the different hot waters, added the salt and watched the frozen nature treasures melt on the platter before dumping them into the bin with the water, and then stirred together a tasty nature soup out of everything.

This kept her very busily occupied for over an hour, well beyond the 30 minute confines of her Tinkergarten Circle Time. In fact, she only stopped playing to go pick more nature treasures, at which time she came across the first part of her mud provocation.
